Why do I drive a Santana GX5?

After I lost my faithful Santana LX in an accident, I bought the Passat Trophy hatchback. But after the winter the feeling came back: Too hard was the lack of a Santana.. - With the Passat being present, it was quite clear the Santana would play the role of a Summer-car. So why not doing it properly this time and buying a five-cylindered one, since I was already made aware of the acoustic qualities of these superb engines by Svenja´s Syncro and Stephan´s Audi 100...

In the Internet I found an offer "For sale: Santana GL5" - with the object of sale being later identified as a GX5, which was all the more right for me, because it has a different set-up of the electricity circuits.

After a long call with lots of questions about the car from my side, I boarded a train to Reutlingen in the south of Germany to have a look at the car or even to take it home. Making a journey of 600 km without even a photo of the car was a risk to seem quite unsensible, but at last it was a success.

After an exciting day with having to get short-time license plates from an already closed traffic office, I was back home with an enormous grin in my face, exactly the same type of grin that today comes into my face when thinking about the engine sound...
